What do you think?

Re: I’m still here!

Great to hear your still "out there" :)

It can get difficult sometimes, and I think thats when we need a little injection of encouragement!
I over did the boxing the other day and am finding it very hard to get my daily 30 min (minimum) in the great part of the wii is that its FUN, but thats not so apparent when your muscles ache :D
But FUN it is and FUN it should be, Might I suggest you have a little tournament of tennis with friends or family, select a nominal prize and make an evening of it.

I realize work commitments are sometimes difficult to manage, and I dont presume to know whats best for you, but you have made a commitment to this project. would it help to think of it as "another work commitment"? I realize thats stepping away from the FUN ideal, but if it helps :)

the other thought I have is that, you have taken some great steps towards a healthier lifestyle, you have recognized the "need" to lose some weight, in order to have a better quality of life/length of life and that focus is sometime that might not be as familiar or as "comfortable" as the "old life style" of eating what you want and letting the pounds pile on.
So it IS difficult, it IS a "new" path to go down, but you CAN do it, you can make the change into a new and healthier you :)

did you know that:
It takes 3 weeks to form a habit.

but when its something we arnt used to or arnt comfortable with, often we dont get to that 3 weeks point. so it takes a little extra determination to get to that point, and if we can get to 4 weeks of, in this case, a daily workout, then it should become easier and more natural.

so far you have made a start, and to pat yourself on the back, remember that your recently enlivened muscles will be burning EXTRA calories, that they wenrt before you started this project.

just stick with it as best you can, and Im sure you will do better every day.

ps. hows the weight watchers going?

Re: Backslide

No, I haven't given up, and I'm sorry that I haven't posted anything new in a while. I had a lot of work come my way, and I haven't done a ton of Wii Fit. I will be back on track very soon. I'm glad to hear that you're trying to get fit with Wii as well! Keep it up!

Re: Backslide

so whats happening? I've been waiting on an update for a while now, but nothing.

Have you given up?

I really hope not, as I was partly inspired to get a Wii by the thought that I could follow your progress :) I'm only working out with Wii sports at the moment, but hope to get wii fit at the end of july.

I have about 40 pounds to loose, and am COMPLETELY unfit.. well I was :) after about 10 days Im starting to notice some slight but very positive effects.

hope to hear more from you soon.

Re: More Balance Board games

Besides Rabbids, Ubisoft has confirmed the release of Shaun White Snowboarding for Wii late 2008 and EA Sports has confirmed that Skate It will also support the balance board so that's another two great games to look forward to.

Re: June baseline

I definitely feel stronger and have better balance after 2 weeks of using the Wii Fit. I also have slightly better endurance. As for weight loss or shrinking waist, I have not made any progress in either category really. I think the muscle gain is offsetting any weight loss. I know my abs have grown, I can feel the difference, and this may be why my waist size is still the same after two weeks. As of tonight, I have lost 4 pounds, but this is over the course of 16 days now. There has been a pattern of when I lose weight one day, I gain weight the next. Overall I am slowly losing weight, but my graph for weight loss is very up and down. If I gain weight tomorrow, I may have only lost 2 or 3 pounds in this much time. I'll wait and see. I know in the long run it is doing good for me, but since the focus is on weight, I was hoping to have better results so far.

Re: June baseline

Okay - I am taking a shot at this too - love your blog and the fact you are keeping us informed. We had some fun at our house with three generations giving it a shot (www.jencarole.blogspot.com) and I think Nintendo blew it on not making it something we could personalize (www.teenlab.blogspot.com) but it sill a darn good time. I can't wait to see how you do this month - but you guys have an advantage - it's SO much easier for you to lose weight! (>>jealous!).

Re: June baseline

It is awesome, when I remember to get on it. Even though it calls me a fat slob all the time, if I wanted that I would just go visit my grandma. However, it could be to my benefit if it was slightly more demeaning. Perhaps if they could actually allow me to make my grandmother my trainer I would lose plenty of water weight by crying myself to sleep at night.

So far I have been down a pound.. then back up three pounds.. then down one and a half.. this is because I test at inconsistent times and eat FAR too much food. I believe my current wii fit age is +20 years at 48. So all in all.. I feel pretty awesome about myself and my horribly overweight and out of shape body.

I wonder at what point it will just tell me to give up.

Re: End of week one

Looking for the hula hoop video - do you want to just post mine? I set up a video on my site of the startup www.imwiifit.com.
